Question by simplegirl: Morocco road between fes (fez) and Marrakesh?
I´ve been doing a lot of research on travelling to morocco and one possible plan is to fly into fes and leave from marrakesh. The inland, straight line path between the 2 apparently has some really nice sights (in a book “tope 30 places to see in morocco” there are several in between these 2 cities). But the road is throught the mountains. I want to know what the weather would be like in january on the road between these 2 citites, like how elevated? would we be hitting snow,, etc. . .?

There is not a main road between the two. You have to go from Fez to Casa, Casa to Marrakesh. The ride is long but if you have time it is pretty.
Am I wrong that there is not a main road between the two?

Hi there, if you wanna avoid snow between Marrakesh and Fez you probably wanna go there thru Casablanca ( Marrakesh-Casablanca-Rabat-Meknes-Fes). But the other road which is ( Marrakesh-Beni Mellal-Fes), there might be snow especially if you go thru Ifrane ( Switzerland of Morocco ) it is more beautiful and excited than other one, and a lot of mountains than other one which is smooth and flat (70%). But the the road thru Atlas mountains isn’t dengerous or bad at all, it is safe and nice, January is a good month. The both ways are gonna be almost same distance but thru Casablanca is FASTER because of Freeway all the way from Marrakesh to Fes. The other one is just a national road and slower cuz of curves.
Enjoy it. After all, Morocco is great no matter which way you go thru, because everything will be nice to discover. You are gonna have a lot of FUN. It might be chilly at nights, but not so much during the days.
I rented a car once in Fes and drove to Marrakech, and was a bit disappointed. It is a nice and easy drive, true, but nothing out of the ordinary. Roads were very good, flat, straight, but that was in May so I don’t know of any snow.
