Watermelons Huge Big Red Ripe Watermelons

watermelons is ripeMy wife was given two huge big watermelons, one of her uncles has a farm and grows watermelons near to our villa I love watermelons especially if they have been chilled and are red, ripe and sweet. I have found that if the flesh is a medium red color with no white in it then you can guarantee the fruit will be nice and sweet. I have seen some big watermelons before but these two were huge, my wife could only just carry one, they each weighed about 18 to 20 kilograms and tasted great.

So I got to thinking what was the biggest ever watermelons? So I googled water melon and came up up with some amazing facts about watermelons, here are a couple

That red sweet slice of watermelon could well be the answer to a erectile dysfunction, this may sound absurd but it’s true, researchers at Texas University have recently discovered that watermelons are rich with a certain type of amino acid called citruline which apparently causes blood vessels to relax the same as Viagra and other drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction.

Did you know you can eat the rind or skin of watermelons it can be boiled fried or stir fried, some people swear watermelon is able to cure acne, making a drink from watermelon and drinking it at least twice a day helps keep your skin clear, it is also a natural skin cleanser when you drink watermelon juice regularly you will notice an improvement in the condition of your skin you will become more radiant in the skin will become smoother.

Watermelon is fantastic for detoxification this is because the fruit helps eliminate free radicals within your body a few days of detoxification with watermelon will reduce the toxins stored in your body.

My wife says you can tell a ripe watermelon by tapping it, if it sound hollow then it is good. Watermelon Facts

So watermelon helps cure erectile dysfunction apparently the researchers in Texas have proven that this actually works a regular diet of watermelon taken at least twice a day, makes a huge improvement if you have problems with erectile dysfunction. What happens is when citruline in the watermelon is consumed it converts to the amino acid arginine. This in turn increases the body’s levels of nitric oxide which helps dilate and relax the blood vessels, much the same way that Viagra works.

Watermelons can be used to make your own natural mask to cure acne it helps exfoliate heal and rejuvenate your skin. This is a great free external treatment for the skin and the fantastic thing is because it is nearly 90% water-based it’s completely safe to use. rind of watermelon can be mashed and then spread on the face and left 30 min you with you then rinse it off with cool clean water. Another way to use this is Rob the rind of the melon on your face because this is a great way to treat acne apparently the rind of the watermelon contains a lot of vitamin A vitamin A is great for your skin.Watermelon Nutrition.

So it starts off that were given to big watermelons, now I find out of the amazing properties inside watermelon. Anyway for me a heated because I like it and Moroccan watermelon is a great taste and is very sweet. All the added benefits of watermelons are really just an added bonus to the fact that I love it. We collected some of the seeds of the watermelons and we hope to plant the seeds next year, and grow our own huge big red juicy watermelons.

Right outside of our villa we can always find the locals selling fresh fish mussels and oysters, you can guarantee that the fish has just been caught and is really really fresh, the mussels and oysters have just been gathered within the hour. I was originally trained as a chef, so I always take an interest in fresh local produce and do occasionally still love to cook. When I saw the mussels being sold at the side of the road they looked amazing. They were absolutely huge and you could see they were fresh they still had the seaweed in the barnacles on them.

Mussels are normally cheap and plentiful in Morocco and the first photograph you can see the kids collecting them from the beach ready to be sold, mussels prefer cooler coastal waters so the Atlantic coast is ideal for them, there are lots of muscle recipes around but I think the simple ones are the best. Some points to look at when using mussels for muscle recipes

  • make sure they are fresh
  • if you pick them yourself make sure the water is not polluted
  • normally mussels are best in the cooler months when they are not breeding
  • check each muscle one by one make sure the shells are closed and not cracked
  • always use the mussels on the same day that you get them

If you’re going to serve the mussels in their shells which we are in this dish make sure they are cleaned very well, scrape off all the seaweed and barnacles, it’s best to wash them at least three times to remove all the sand, there’s nothing worse than tucking into your mussels and getting a mouthful of gritty sand. Once you have cleaned and scraped all the mussels put them into bowel or a sink full of fresh clean cold water, discard any that stay open when you tap them. The thing with mussels is you don’t need to cook them for a long time the more you cook them the tougher they become if you cook them for long enough it’s going to be like eating elastic.

Muscle recipes

Grab yourself a heavy duty pan and were going to steam them, chop a bit of garlic, a couple of shallots, a bit of salt-and-pepper and whatever fresh herbs that you like, throw in a glass of white wine and a dash of olive oil to give the mussels a lovely shine. Put all your ingredients except the mussels into your pan and bring to the boil, once it’s simmering away put in your mussels and cover the pan with the lid, keep the pan simmering and it will only take a few minutes till the mussels are steamed once they open up they are ready. Make sure you don’t overcook them.

Now they’re ready to be served, grab yourself some nice crusty bread because the juice from the mussels is ideal for soaking up with a bread. Put your mussels into bowels and decorate with some nice green salad and green fresh herbs. Now it’s ready to eat go and enjoy your mussels recipes.

Bikini-clad beaches, high end resorts, and Islam in Morocco

Morocco and IslamMorocco which lately has been garnishing much publicity from its tourists attractions and beaches, surprisingly enough is overwhelmingly Islamic.  The first thoughts that come to most people’s minds when they hear Islam unfortunately is terrorism, and although Morocco has had some terrorist attacks, with almost every country in the world dealing with the threat of terrorism, it should not be considered a high risk vacation anymore than going to NYC in America would be for the frequent traveler.

Islam, especially the variety practiced in most of Morocco known as the native Sunni variant, is a peaceful religion that is mostly composed of pieces of modern day Muslim practice with old African rituals and routines backing up the moral teachings of Islam.  Although there are a few small pieces of other organized religions, their numbers are so small it is unlikely you will notice their occupation of Morocco.  Very small sectors of Moroccan society are Christians, Jews, and Hindus, but each group makes up less than one percent of the population.  Despite the way the world paints Muslims however, for living in a bikini clad tourist land, many of the natives are very friendly to the business and luxury visitors who flock to Morocco each year for their meetings and vacations (and sometimes both!) respectfully.

In fact, the Moroccan people are some of the friendliest people you will meet at any tourist locations as Europeans and Americans tend to be very cold and bitter towards tourists.  Not here, as if you are not careful the locals will talk your ears off informing you of the best places to stay and everything you need to be sure to see while you are in Morocco.  For a country that faces so much inner turmoil, they embrace foreigners and their current situations with contentment almost, choosing to make the best out of their lives in Morocco which has a lot to do with the real teachings of Islam.  (And possibly the shiny warm climate)

Despite this, religion has caused some problems for the Moroccan society and can cause a threat to vacationers as Islamic terrorists are becoming more and more a threat in Morocco as they are across the world.  Casablanca, known to many thanks to Humphrey Bogard and Ingrid Bergman, is the most famous tourist attraction, and unfortunately also where most of the suicide bombings have occurred lately first in 2003 and onward to today.  Although the injuries are slight since the government has upped security in the city, there is still a risk of Islamic extremists that reverberates throughout the city.  However, a vacationer should not be overly concerned, just cautious, as the whole world is suffering from random terrorist’s attacks, and the fact that the majority of Morocco is Muslim should not deter their plans.   The religious people, while being fundamentalist, are not dangerous and are happy to share their beautiful culture and land with travelers.  In fact, some of the most striking cultural Moroccan structures are the Muslim Mosques.

Morocco is a wonderful country to visit.

10 Reasons to Visit Morocco – a Holiday and a Lifestyle!

This exotic North African country can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you want it to be. Here is how to get the best out of the country’s luxury resort hotels, exotic souks, mountain treks and desert safaris, with 10 tips and reasons to visit Morocco to help start your holiday planning and further research.

Beaches: Take your pick from a wide choice of beaches on Morocco’s Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. Opt for popular resorts such as Agadir or quiet spots such as Asilah and Oualidia.

Cities: Morocco’s imperial cities are resplendent with old palaces, medinas and bustling markets. Top options include Marrakech, Fes and Rabat.

Riads: Enjoy typical Moroccan hospitality with a stay at a riad, which is usually a palace or grand courtyard home that has been turned into a luxury boutique hotel or bed and breakfast.

Desert: Head into the Sahara on a camel trek or four-wheel drive excursion. Book a trip for a day or stay in a Bedouin tent.

Mountains: No matter where you choose to stay in Morocco, the mountains beckon. The Atlas range bisects the country, while the Rif Mountains sweep down to the north coast.

Food: Delicious Moroccan cuisine will have you asking for more. Try tajine, a subtly-flavoured stew using lamb, chicken or fish. Couscous dishes are also popular. Wash them down with wine, beer or refreshing mint tea.

Shopping: Get lost in the souks of Casablanca, Tangier and other towns and cities as you barter for brightly-patterned ceramics, leather goods, baskets, carpets and jewellery.

Spas: Wind down in traditional steam baths found in towns and cities throughout the country. Luxury hotels in resorts such as Essaouira have modern spas offering a wide variety of treatments.

History: Imperial cities such as Tetouan boast ancient medinas that have hardly changed in thousands of years. Head towards the desert and you’ll see spectacular kasbahs built into cliff walls.

Festivals: Music, dance and Arab traditions such as storytelling and horse riding are at the fore of Morocco’s moussems, held throughout the country and incorporating a fair and a religious celebration. Top picks include the rose moussem at Kelaat M’Gouna near Ouarzazate and the date festival at Erfoud on the edge of the desert.

A holiday in Morocco is full of excitement. Whether you choose to stay in a sumptuous city hotel in Morocco, or sleep under the stars in a remote Berber village, there’s an atmosphere of mystique and magic, where you will take away amazing memories of snake charmers and camel trains to kasbahs and minarets.
