I am going on my honeymoon to Morocco next year – staying in Essaouira on the coast and in Marrakech. What should I take with me to wear? I have heard that women shouldn’t wear short sleeves or shorts/skirts above the knee is this correct?
How about in the evenings? When I will be going out with my husband what can I wear that is smarter?

Cover yourself up at all times. Don’t forget to bring a headscarf, some places might require it. Your husband can wear what he wants.
It’s windy in Essaouira, if you want to wear a long skirt make sure it’s the kind that can’t fly up when the wind is blowing so hard. There are tourists from all over in Morocco, many wear their own style of clothing, but it is better to be more modest and at the same time comfortable. You could wear a long dress or skirt and blouse if you want to dress up, and there are many beautiful scarves for sale in both cities if you want to dress up your outfit. You could even wear nice slacks and a blouse.
You can wear what you like. Both cities you mentioned are very touristy and see clothing of all types. For that matter any city of substantial size see’s it.
As for skirts above the knee. You can wear them though if not at your husbands immediate side will likely get unwanted attention from seedy men.
An above poster mentioned the wind in Essaouira and I agree 100%…..don’t wear anything that will blow up easy and show more than you want seen.
Have fun.
