When visiting Morocco, what are the “must see” cities and attractions?

morocco
I’m planning a short trip (long weekend) to Morocco but I’m not sure if this will be too short.
Is that enough time to spend in one place, for example Marrakesh, or would 2 place be possible?
Also, which cities are unmissable?
Thank you for your advice!

A long weekend would be OK for Marrakech but if you want to go to other cities a week or more would be better. In warm weather a side trip to Ourika Valley is good, a beautiful natural area with a long shallow river, small restaurants on the side and places selling rocks and handicrafts. Essaouira is a peaceful small city on the Atlantic Coast, nice to visit after being the in noisy & busy Marrakech. Agadir has a beautiful beach and many restaurants and things along the beach, a nice souk and fish restaurant. You need more than a long weekend if you plan to travel, it takes time to do that.

Don’t go to Casablanca unless you wanna see the mosque, Marrakesh and Agadir are good

Asilah is an adorable little town in the North if you are driving or taking a grand taxi around.

Otherwise, I agree that you can skip Casablanca unless you want to go to the mosque. I would also suggest Meknes for a day or two (if you are there for a week or longer) as well as the Ourika Valley.

Hands down, my favorite city was Essourira though. Very tourist-oriented, but gorgeous and great seafood.
